While in Paris, France- Study Abroad Fall 2010

Howdy,

My name is Gabrielle Farrell (friends call me Gabby), and I was raised by a widowed mother, Francine Hobbs Farrell, who has been my rock in all that I do. Being raised by a single parent has shaped my experience; my mother and I have developed an inseparable bond. This poses challenges when I travel, because I love to get away, but none of these challenges serve as being unconquerable. Being a first generation student has been a blessing and a burden all at once. It pushes my goals and aspirations to be higher each and every day in hopes of seeing a proud mother. I have been blessed with many opportunities: graduating from Harvard’s Crimson Summer Academy, becoming a Posse Foundation Scholar, entering my senior year of college at Bryn Mawr, traveling to Montserrat in the West Indies to find family, studying abroad in France, visiting Morocco, London, Holland, and there are so many more blessings. I can barely count them all. Hard work, resilience, and dedication has brought me this far. I seek to maintain my “brand”: my reputation for being easy to work with, hard-working, friendly, and humorous. I look forward to sharing my life with you in a way that can help you learn about a day in the life of a student here. I am completely open with a fun spirit. I hope you enjoy reading my blogs, feel free to comment or ask me anything!
